Bio

Paul Krishnamurty, Reviewer at Lucky Ones

I've been a professional gambler on the Betfair exchange since 2003, and a political betting analyst for most of that time — a combination that sounds unusual until you realise elections and odds markets run on exactly the same discipline: read the data, ignore the noise, back your number.

I studied politics at the University of Hull, and it's the same analytical lens I've used ever since to call elections other people wrote off — including backing Barack Obama at 10/1 to win the presidency and John McCain at 20/1 for the Republican nomination back in 2008, and flagging a then-outsider Jeremy Corbyn during the 2015 Labour leadership race well before the mainstream conversation caught up.

I've spent more than a decade as Betfair's political betting columnist, and my writing has also appeared in Politico, Esquire, and City AM. My own site, PoliticalGambler.com, is where I go deeper on the calls I make. Cricket, golf, and snooker round out the rest of what I cover.

On this site, my job is simple: review every offer the way I'd size up a bet with my own money on it — no exceptions for how good the marketing looks.
